Unexpected blessings and love
Joining Sisters on the Fly has brought so much to my life. I've had wonderful adventures and have met some amazing women. Two weeks ago I had a horrible week. My medically fragile father had a heart attack, resulting in double bypass surgery. The doctors said he's lucky to be alive. This was the week leading up to I Love Fall Camping #3 held in South Bend, Indiana. I was supposed to attend, but figured it wasn't going to happen given all that was going on with Dad. Thankfully, Dad came through okay, and I was able to head to the gathering. I travelled across the state to my home to grab my trailer and some clothes and another Sister that was staying with me, and then crossed the state again that same day to attend the function. As expected, I had a wonderful time and the laughter and love of my Sisters nourished my soul. On the last day while packing up I managed to fall while walking (I guess I haven't mastered that walking thing yet) and broke my ankle. I finished hooking up, drove home and collapsed. Thankfully, I didn't need surgery, just a cast.
My wonderful Midwest Region Sisters secretly got together and decided to shower me with love. My husband stopped at our post office box today and came home loaded down with packages from my Sisters. I immediately burst into tears and felt the collective hugs. It was totally an unexpected blessing. I've only opened two packages so far. I'm going to open one a day and say a prayer and blessing for each lovely Sister.
Thank you to each of you who make this such a wonderful group. It gives back in ways we never expect. To think, I joined so I'd have some neat women to go camping with.....
