I'm proud to know these people - Frankie's Rescue Squad
I'm so proud to know these people. Last year an animal rescue we volunteered with went through a hard time and had to freeze intakes. Carrie and Amanda started rescuing orphaned kittens on their own and decided to make it official. Frankie's Rescue Squad was born. Frankie is the first special needs neonate puppy I co-parented with Carrie and he's a pretty special dude. Carrie ended up adopting him which made my heart so happy!
Anyway, in the fall of 2023 FRS was made official (they are still waiting on their 501c3 paperwork back from the IRS) and others joined the group. While there are a few other people who have fostered on a limited basis, this is the "core" of the group. Each of these people has years of rescue experience. The man in the back in the middle is our amazing Veterinarian. In their first 4 months of being a rescue (Sept - Dec) they took in 63 animals. (They focus on orphaned kittens and puppies born with disabilities like cleft lips meaning they need to be tube fed.) Of these 63, 7 passed away (this is always a risk with newborns who have had a rough start), 38 of these animals found new homes, another 4 already have homes, they just have to get old enough. There are currently 14 kittens available for adoption. 42 kittens who were giving a second shot at life thanks to the hard work of these people. 3 of the kittens had serious medical conditions requiring a lot of care; 3 of them needed to have an eye removed. Once has a serious heart condition along with her eye needing to be removed. She has a forever home waiting. Amazing.
Fostering is so rewarding, and so hard. It hurts when an animal in your care passes away. It's hard to fall in love and have them go to another family. But, when you look at the good you are putting out into the world and the joy you've brought to another family it's worth it.
Frankie's Rescue Squad has an Amazon wish list for supplies they use to care for the animals. They run on a shoestring making every dollar stretch. If you are so inclined, they would deeply appreciate your donation.
