Recycling old hoses into a rug

We had a problem. Our outdoor spigot is located in the shade next to the house and it gets really muddy there. We also had all of these old nasty hoses hanging around so I decided to put them to use. I am making a mat to go on the ground under the spigot so we are not stepping in mud. This is one hose done and I will add at least one or two more. I'm debating about leaving the outer end on and then just adding the next hose or if I should cut it off. There are pros and cons to both ways. I'm pretty with happy with how it's coming out though using supplies we already had around the house. This first mat measures 27" wide and 32" long.

Hose #2 added. I am going to add more reinforcements to the curves but I need more zip ties first. I haven't decided if I'm going to do a 3rd hose or leave it this size. I'm going to put it in place first and then I'll make my decision. It's surprisingly heavy. We have several more hoses so I will definitely make another one.

In place.  No more stepping in mud when we use the spigot.  I'm so happy that this came out so well and that I can reuse these hoses and keep them out of the landfill.  Win!
