Tyler's Bottle Service - all aboard the rollercoaster!
We are finally home from our adventure filled day. Below is a picture of Tyler with his ISC (Individual Service Coordinator) Natalie. I am SO excited! We met with other support coordinators and family members who are considering starting their own bottle businesses. Tyler will be mentoring a 26 year old man next Thursday. We will take him with us for stops in his area, and have more discussions with his Mom. This guy loves doing recycling and this sounds absolutely perfect for him as he leaves his post-secondary program this spring. We will be coordinating with others for their individual mentoring and setups shortly.
We also met with Natalie's mentor. We had a great discussion with her and she asked a ton of questions. The result of that meeting is Tyler and I were invited to speak the first Thursday in February and the following Tuesday to all of the ISCs they employ - I think for Wayne and Oakland counties. We will explain Tyler's Bottle Service and how a similar business model might work for their clients.
PLUS - one of the moms we met with is connected with a state-wide training program and will be putting us in contact with them. Not only will it open more resources for us, but she said they may want us to present on this model to their staff and families on a state level. I have no idea where all of this is going, but I'm beyond excited by the notion that we can help others like Tyler find their way to a more productive life in their own communities. I'm astonished by the doors that keep opening. I'm kinda hanging on for dear life while the rollercoaster takes off. But, I can't wait to see what is around the next curve.
